Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if mental performance training is for me?

Mental performance is valuable for anyone looking to enhance their performance or fine-tune their skills. You don't always have to be facing significant challenges. It's suitable for individuals committed to personal growth, open to self-reflection, and eager to invest in their performance development. If you value accountability, support, and a holistic approach to maximizing your potential, then this is an excellent choice for you!

What is the difference between what we do, versus a psychologist?

The primary difference lies in education and training. Rise Above Mental Performance practitioners do not provide psychotherapy. Our services are not clinically-based, but performance-based. Simply put, we do not provide diagnoses or deal with clinical issues such as eating disorders, substance abuse, suicidal ideation... In the event that these situations present themselves, we will refer you to a mental health professional.

Is mental performance training only for athletes?

Absolutely not! We believe everyone is a performer in various aspects of life. Whether you find yourself in a classroom, a fitness facility, or high-pressured professional settings (e.g., operating room, boardroom), our goal is to cultivate mental skills that apply across a range of performance domains. We encourage comprehensive mental skills training to maximize its positive impact.

Are mental performance sessions covered by insurance?

In terms of insurance coverage, mental performance sessions are not covered by benefits because we are not registered psychologists. However, depending on your coverage, mental performance sessions may be submitted as a wellness expense (similar to a personal trainer).
